We had some family come in town for spring break (which I will post on soon) and one of our stops was IKEA! Who doesn’t love IKEA…well, I actually know a lot of people that don’t…but not us, we LOVE IKEA! The only thing that I don’t love about IKEA is that we always spend too much money when we go. We always find something fun to add to our cart! Well, this trip we found many things including new dish scrubbing brushes (who doesn’t need those), a cheese grader that has a bowl for the cheese to go into, 2 new lamps for our living room, curtains for my sons room, I think there was more, but we also found these cool markers! My Jude loves to craft and make cards and pictures for people, so this is perfect for him. They are so neat, one side has a marker tip and the other side is like a stamp (without the stamp pad…way less messy!). They are super cool and they were like $2!! So, next time you visit IKEA…pick some up for your kiddos…they will love them!
Lincoln has been eating baby food for a little while now, which can be a little messy:) My sister-in-law gave me a few of these “bibsters” a while back because she didn’t need them anymore. I hadn’t even heard of them…BUT, they are AWESOME! You know how when you are feeding your baby and they get food all over the bib and it stains it or makes it REALLY dirty? Well, these are great because you can just put them over the bib that you have on already or just put it on by itself and it collects all the food…when you are done you just throw it away!! They are a little pricey, so we only use them when we are out and about…but it is so worth it so that you don’t have to carry around a dirty bib in your diaper bag:) I haven’t bought any yet, but found them at BuyBuyBaby!
So, I thought I might share some of my fun finds. One of the fun toys that I have found for Lincoln is the Laugh & Learn Apptivity Case. I know some mommies don’t really like to use technology at a young age, but at our house it is pretty much all around. This case is so cool because it allows them to look at your Iphone or Ipod touch and not drool all over it or break it by dropping it. It also comes with some suggestions for some great app’s suggestions for counting and animal sounds. It is also great because of the round wheel shape that provides handles on the side for them to easily hold and watch videos or movies that you have uploaded. It will also still allow us to use it to play his “sleepy” music.
Overall a great product and a great invention that I thought I would share with you!
So now that I am over 6 months post baby, I need to get to work on getting rid of some of this extra weight. It is not my favorite thing to do, but I really need to get to work! I have tried many different diets and plans, but have decided to go with Weight Watchers this time…hopefully the final time:) I really like it because it allows you to eat whatever you want, but you just have to stay within the points. That seems easy enough, right? Well, not that easy, but reasonable. I joined the online version because it is cheaper and it is too hard to go to meetings with a baby in tow. I joined before Christmas, but spent a little while working on a plan for the different meal options. I find that is the hardest thing about an “eating plan”…other than sticking to it, preparation! So, I was trying to create a way for me to be successful by learning more about what we can have and find some good recipes to try. I am hoping that it is going to be a little easier since my hubby is going to be doing it with me:)
I have found some great recipes from a great site www.skinnytaste.com and not only does she have a picture of EVERY recipe that I have seen (which is like one of my favorite things), but she includes the weight watcher points for each one! I have also found some great stuff on the new weight watchers site. I will be sharing some of the good recipes as we go along:)
There are also some great applications on the iphone and probably other phones too. Here are a few of them:
- Weight Watchers Mobile – which is the tracking app that comes with the online Weight Watchers membership. It allows you to track your points and look up the point values for all the food items.
- Weight Watchers Scanner – MY FAVORITE! This is the best, it allows you to scan the bar code and it gives you the points value. I have found that it has a really big database and even has some of the generic items. Very helpful when grocery shopping and comparing different brands.
- Restaurant Nutrition – I haven’t used this much yet, but will! It has many restaurants that the WW apps doesn’t include. It gives the nutritional information so that you can input on the WW app to get your point values. I am thankful for this since you can’t always eat at home.
I don’t know about you, but one of my least favorite things to do at the end of the day is cleaning “the bottles”. I usually procrastinate until the last one has been used and I absolutely HAVE to clean them:) I recently went with one of my sweet friends to help them register for the arrival of twin babies…and found a new tool…the Oxo Tot Straw and Sippy Cup Top Cleaning Set. It has made the cleaning process SO much easier!! It has three parts included…one small brush that is used to clean the nipples and inside breast feeding pump parts, one pointy piece that can be used to clean those little drink holes in the sippy cups (which I am excited about when baby L gets older) and lastly, the BEST part…the long brush that fits perfectly in the tube for the Dr. Brown’s bottle (which they do include a little one, but it is always getting lost), it can also be used to clean the yellow rubbery thingy too! It is so wonderful because I can keep it right next to the regular bottle cleaner and I never lose the little brush. Oh, AND it’s PINK! (I couldn’t find a pink picture) I figure I am the one that is using it…so I should get to choose my favorite color. It might just be me that gets so frustrated by this…but I thought I would share it with you in case you share in my frustration. Happy Bottle Cleaning!!
